A silver lining from this pandemic is how much my community has grown, both virtually and locally, all stemming from a mutual appreciation for houseplants. There are total strangers who have gifted me plants, and every day or so, I meet someone new who shares with me that they have been inspired to buy their first houseplant. There are folks I have known for several years that I recently learned had some bomb houseplant collections on the sneak. As this community swells so, too, does my heart.
I love watching this community of young, houseplant parents of color grow through the gifting and exchanging of plants and information. Good things are meant to be shared and houseplants especially should be accessible and simple for e'rybody.
I wanted to start an interview series to highlight some of the awesome folks in my orbit locally. So many of my favorite plant folks are right here in my home state of North Carolina (or have ties here): @thehouseplanthippie, @haven_farm, @theplondering, @tg_floral, @botanistbee, @theplantpapi, @thechocolatebotanist, @noirplantclub, @thebarefootgardner and @hausplanthoney, just to name a few!
And it's only right that I kicked off my series with the woman who sparked this interest in me--my Mama, Sheila "Bone," aka Mama-What's-One-More-Pothos! I hope you enjoy!
